Inspired by Paul Revere’s midnight ride, we rebelled against the British style IPA, embraced the more aggressive American version and then recast it in bold, brave, defiant black. Our Black IPA is a Declaration of Independence from the tyranny of the expected. Back in Black is our newest year-round beer available now in six pack cans and on draft. Brewed like an American IPA but with the addition of rich, dark malts, this beer has all the flavor and hop character you expect with a smooth, mellow finish. Bittering Hops Columbus Flavor Hops. Columbus, Centennial Yeast. Top Fermenting Ale Yeast Malts. Rahr Pale Malt, Crystal 45L, Munich, De-Bittered Black

Here at the 21st Amendment Brewery we are huge fans of IPA and love our hops like anyone else, but we also like to have fun. Our Blah Blah Blah IPA is a tongue-in-cheek, commentary on the popularity of this style and all the sub-styles that have become part of craft beer conversations and offerings. At 8% ABV, our Blah Blah Blah IPA is a deep gold color, double IPA (of course) and is jammed packed with hop flavors and aromas. With nine different hop varietals including Equinox and a one, two, three, 2-pound per barrel dry hop punch of Mosaic, Citra and the latest Idaho 7 hops. On top of all that the late-kettle boil additions give this beer a juicy, hop chewy flavor. A firm grain bill of Pilsner, Golden Promise, honey, wheat and Vienna malts gives great structure and support backing the complex confluence of hops.

Made in collaboration with homebrewer, Mike "Tasty" McDole, Tasty IPA drinks easily but isn’t necessarily easy drinking. The hop forward creation, spawned from test batches of Tasty’s own homebrews, features Citra and Mosaic Lupulin Powder with Ekuanot hop pellets. It’s a quenching IPA with a clean bitterness and a ton of hop aroma and flavor. It serves as a reminder to all homebrewers that dreams do come true, fantasies can become reality, and big burly beer dudes are a thing of beauty.

Like Lady Liberty, we stand for independence and perseverance. In the pursuit of innovative beer, there is no obstacle too great. No journey too long. No fruit too gigantic. This American wheat beer is brewed with real watermelon, for a flavor that’s surprisingly crisp, dry and refreshing—summer in a can.
Fireside Chat
Style: Winter Ale
ABV: 7.9%

# Ratings: 64,556
Score: 3.64
Like FDR’s Depression-era radio addresses, which were like a kick in the butt and a hug at the same time, our Fireside Chat is a subtle twist on the traditional seasonal brew. We begin with a rich, dark, English-style ale and then we improvise with spices until we know we have a beer worth sharing with the nation.
Down To Earth
Style: IPA - Session / India Session Ale
ABV: 4.4%
IBUs: 42
# Ratings: 60,596
Score: 3.69
Down to Earth is the natural evolution (pun intended) of Bitter American, our original session ale. We thought it would be fitting to bring our space chimp home and let him chill. Whether you have a long mission behind you or a full afternoon ahead, this session IPA will help keep things real. More relaxed than an IPA, but with all the hop aroma and flavor, Down to Earth is our tribute to unsung heroes and unplanned adventures. Down to Earth is available year-round in six-pack cans and on draft and pairs nicely with a variety of things, including lunch.
Toaster Pastry
Style: IPA - Red
ABV: 7.6%

First beer out of the new brewery, an homage to its former life as a toaster pastry factory. Biscuit malts give the beer a slightly nutty, crust-like flavor, while pale and dark crystal malts create the mouthfeel and flavors reminiscent of strawberry jam. Calypso and other experimental hops give this ruby ale a welcome bite, plus a few more in the hop back for a tasty aroma.

This Imperial IPA breaks all the rules with more malt, more hops, and more aroma. We made the biggest, hoppiest, IPA we could imagine, and then we aged it on oak for good measure. GABF 2010 Silver Medal winner!
Sneak Attack
Style: Saison / Farmhouse Ale
ABV: 6.2%
IBUs: 38
# Ratings: 37,916
Score: 3.48
You might not expect a Saison in winter. But the enemy didn’t expect Washington to cross the icy Delaware, either. Expectations be damned, we say. We’re sneaking up on winter with a boatload of bravado and this Belgian-style farmhouse ale. Dry hopped with whole organic cardamom pods, our Saison has an assertive spiciness. In your face, winter. Sneak Attack is our late winter seasonal beer available from January through March in six pack cans and on draft. The perfect antidote to the big beers of winter, Sneak Attack is crisp, dry and palate cleansing. It pairs perfectly with the rich and warming foods of winter: Bouillabaisse, sausages, smoked meats and full flavored cheeses.
Monk's Blood
Style: Belgian Strong Dark Ale
ABV: 8.3%
IBUs: 34
# Ratings: 29,133
Score: 3.81
Monk’s Blood pays homage to the monks of Belgium’s monasteries who have been brewing some of the world’s great beer for centuries. During times of fasting, the monks subsist solely on beer, which they refer to as ‘liquid bread’. Beer, quite literally, is in their blood. The most sublime of the monk’s premium brews is dark like blood, rich and nourishing. 21st Amendment founders Nico Freccia and Shaun O’Sullivan traveled to Belgium to develop the recipe for this special beer, visiting small, traditional breweries in the hop fields of west Flanders, not far from the famous Trappist abbey of Westvletren. Monk’s Blood is designed to pair beautifully with rich winter stews, creamy cheeses, unctuous desserts or just by itself, in a Belgian tulip glass, with a good book by the fire.

Deep, mahogany color, rich malt candied, rock sugar flavors with sweet burnt currant and fig aromas. It’s strong alcohol content is tempered by a clean bitterness and complex flavors. This Barley Wine is named for Cornelius de Boom, the San Francisco Belgian Consulate General (1850 to 1851) and surprisingly the name of the alley along-side the 21st Amendment on 2nd Street.
He Said (Belgian-Style Tripel)
Style: Pumpkin / Yam Beer

# Ratings: 17,075

The story starts in 2010 when Dick Cantwell walked into our San Francisco pub. We’d heard about his little pumpkin fest and wanted to get together to brew a pumpkin beer like no other: a Belgian-style Tripel brewed with pumpkin, galangal and terragon. In a dark colored can.

He Said let’s brew a dark beer with pumpkin and spices and put it in a light colored can. He Said let’s brew a light beer with pumpkin and spices and put it in a dark colored can. So they did both and produced a pumpkin beer collaboration like no other: two black pumpkin beers and two white pumpkin beers, together in one box. Brewing up a pumpkin collaboration beer should be a piece of cake for Dick Cantwell, the pumpkin king at Elysian Brewing and a slam dunk for Shaun O’Sullivan, the 21st Amendment Brewery Brewmaster who brought the world Hell or High Watermelon Wheat Beer. In truth, brewing upHe Saidwasn’t that hard. What proved to be more difficult was getting their story about its inception straight.

At first sip, you’re lulled into delicate malt clouds, then brace yourself for a MAMMOTH dry hop charge - 4 pounds of hops per barrel to be exact (which is twice our typical rate!) – and juicy notes of peach, orange, mango and pineapple. “We used four pounds of hops per barrel in the dry hop alone, which is twice our typical rate for most of our 21A beers,” said Shaun O’Sullivan, Co-Founder and Brewmaster of 21stAmendment. “At one point I remember asking Barry and Alex if adding this many hops was a terrible idea and they just shrugged their shoulders and added more.” “The Citra, Mosaic, Ekuanot and Calypso hops in this beer were all I heard about for days and days. They couldn’t get enough,” said Nico Freccia, Co-Founder of 21st Amendment. “But we also used a Vermont ale yeast, so that makes A Terrible Idea a ‘California New England Style Hazy IPA’ (new category?) that is in a league of its own.”

El Camino (un)Real
Style: Spiced / Herbed Beer
ABV: 9.5%
IBUs: 101
# Ratings: 3,907
Score: 3.69
Brewed in collaboration with Firestone-Walker Brewing Company and Stone Brewing Company. At 9.5% ABV, El Camino (Un)Real is a dark strong ale that drinks like an Imperial Stout with a hook – it has a firm bitterness and malt complexity with licorice, vanilla and higher alcohol esters. The incorporation of indigenous ingredients includes the addition of dried mission figs, pink peppercorns, fennel and chia seeds that together add a slight herbal, fruit and spice note built to pair with the malt and hop complexity. This beer is big, drinks well and will age quite nicely. El Camino (Un)Real is available in 4-pack cans and on draft starting this week in all 25 of 21st Amendment’s current distribution territories. Channeling their mythical road trip, all three brewers have put together a Spotify playlist that you can enjoy on your next highway adventure or while kicking back and savoring this rich beer with friends and family:
