Due to CenturyLink being down, we’re currently only able to accept duckettes, which is apparently 90s slang for cold hard American greenbacks that Matt is desperately trying to bring back. CenturyLink is anticipating being up around 2:45, and then we’ll be good to accept your 21st century money. But let’s be honest, you don’t have Netflix at home now so you might as well swing by the House to wait out the Stone Age with some beer and probably some good old fashioned Maury reruns. Edit: We should be up and running now, everyone. Thanks for your patience with something we had literally nothing to do with. We can still watch Maury if you’re down though.

Join us in wishing a very happy birthday to the man without whom we would never have been Des Moines’ newest brewery. In honor of Jerry’s birthday, anyone named Jerry (with ID) will get their second pint free today! Happy birthday, and now that you finally like beer, come grab a free pint! We’ll even put on some Allman Brothers for you.

We had an absolutely incredible time drinking some brews and jamming with Michael and Bruce from Foreigner last night. When we were first approached to do their VIB event, we were two weeks old and thought we were being catfished by another Iowa craft brewery as an initiation prank. We couldn’t be happier to have it not only be real, but for the amazing turnout. None of our wives left us for any members of the band, but you almost lost a social media guy to the sweet allure of the open road and really cool jackets that he most definitely can’t pull off. Thanks to Bruce and Michael and all of you who showed up and rocked with us. And a huge thanks to Reverend Jack, who absolutely crushed it as their opener.

Tonight is the night. Our taproom will be closed to anyone without tickets to Foreigner’s VIB event, and remaining tickets are extremely limited. Taproom opens at 2, Reverend Jack plays at 5. Des Moines Tropical Sno & Thumbs Up will be parking their food truck behind our building for the event. Foreigner and 1717 Brewing together at last. It feels like the thirst time.

We were pretty happy with how our German Rye turned out, but we were a little more nervous when real live Germans walked in to critique it. But now you don’t have to take our word for it. Come on down and check out our Rye which gets a seal of approval from Ben, whose country definitely knows beer. We can’t validate exactly what he said, but we assume it’s about how great the beer is and not something slanderous about our pale Irish bodies. #SipItUp
